Per-pax rates are not comparable on their own
Two quotations at the same per-pax rate can differ by a third once setup, delivery, disposables and collection are counted. The rate is the headline; the questions below are what actually separates one order from another.
We have answered each of them for ourselves rather than in the abstract, including where the answer is a limitation.
Multi-vendor sourcing
Each dish comes from a stall that specialises in it, not one kitchen.
99% on-time delivery
Measured across every order, not a marketing figure.
Everything in the quotation
Setup, delivery, disposables and collection are priced before you confirm.
Swaps at no cost
43 free replacements at entry level, up to 88 higher up.
What is inside the per-pax rate?
With us, the per-pax rate is the food. Setup, delivery, the skirted table, the warmers, the serving gear, the disposables and the collection trip are all inside one flat $90 setup fee. Nothing else is added unless a venue or timing surcharge applies, and those are published.
When you compare quotations, add the setup and delivery to both before you look at the per-pax figures.
Who actually cooks the food?
Most buffet catering comes out of one central kitchen, which is why the third dish on a ten-dish line is usually the weakest. Livingmenu is a platform: the order is assembled across multiple stalls, each cooking what it cooks every day.
The trade-off is honest — we are coordinating several kitchens rather than one, which is why the on-time figure is a number we publish rather than a claim we make.
How much can you change?
Ask how many dishes can be swapped and what it costs. On our entry-level menus 43 replacement dishes are free; on the $30 and $45 menus it is 88, which is effectively the whole catalogue.
A fixed set menu and a menu with forty free swaps are not the same product even at the same price.
What happens to the equipment?
A buffet with setup means someone comes back for the table and warmers. Ask when, and whether anyone from your side has to be there.
If nobody can stay, our mini buffet format has nothing to collect at all — the insulated bags and all the serving gear are yours to keep and bin.
What are the halal and dietary arrangements?
Ask specifically, because the answers vary. Our halal menus come from Muslim-owned stalls, and halal-certified menus are available through our partnering vendors on request. Vegetarian dishes are on the free swap list at every level.
Tell us how strict the requirement is and we will either meet it or say plainly that we cannot.
How ordering works
Book early for popular dates
Our cutoff is one day before your event. In practice, order earlier: festive periods, year-end parties and weekend slots fill up well ahead, and booking early secures both your slot and the dishes you want.
Buffet delivery and setup $90
One fee covers delivery, a full setup with a skirted table and cloth, warmers, serving gear, disposable plates, cutlery and napkins, and our team returning to collect the equipment after your event.
Changes up to 24 hours before
Adjust your headcount, menu or timing more than 24 hours before your event, subject to availability. Within 24 hours the food and manpower are already committed, so changes and cancellations are normally not accepted and a fee of 50% to 100% of the order may apply.
Additional charges may apply for outlying areas (Tengah, Lim Chu Kang, Tuas, Sentosa, Changi Airport and Alps Avenue), deliveries before 10am or after 7.30pm, and venues without lift access. Every charge is confirmed in your quotation before you pay. See full terms.

Frequently asked questions
What makes buffet catering good value?
The total per head after setup, delivery and disposables are counted, and how much of the menu you can change without paying more. Two quotations at the same per-pax rate often differ substantially on both.
How is a catering platform different from a caterer?
A caterer cooks your order in its own kitchen. Livingmenu assembles it across multiple food stalls, each contributing the dishes it specialises in. You get one order, one delivery and one invoice.
What should I check about on-time delivery?
Ask for a figure rather than a promise. Ours is 99% across all orders. Also ask whether the delivery time is the time the food arrives or the time the line is ready to serve — with setup, those are different.
What does the $90 buffet setup include?
A skirted buffet table with a cloth, chafing warmers to hold the food at temperature, serving gear, disposable plates, cutlery and napkins, our team setting the line up before your event, and a return trip to collect the equipment afterwards. Delivery is included in it.
Can I change the dishes on a buffet menu?
Yes. The entry-level menus carry 43 free replacement options and the higher levels carry more, up to 89. Paid upgrades to premium dishes are available and are priced before you confirm.
How far in advance should I order catering?
The latest we can take an order is one day before your event. We recommend booking earlier than that: popular dates such as Chinese New Year, Hari Raya, Christmas and the year-end party season are taken weeks ahead, and ordering early secures your slot and the dishes you want. For large events, the earlier the better.
Is there a delivery fee?
Delivery is $30 on mini buffet orders below our promotional threshold and free on promotional menus above $225, which in practice means free from 15 pax upwards. Our bento promotional menus include delivery at every tier. Buffet with setup is $90, which covers delivery, setting up the buffet line and collecting the equipment afterwards. Additional charges may apply for outlying areas, deliveries before 10am or after 7.30pm, and venues without lift access. Every charge is confirmed in your quotation.
What is included with the food?
Mini buffet orders are drop and go: the food arrives in insulated warmer bags that are yours to keep, with serving gear, cutlery, plates, bowls, a disposable table cloth and a trash bag, so you can bag everything up and bin it after your event. Bento meals come individually boxed with cutlery. Buffet with setup includes a skirted table and cloth, warmers, serving gear, disposable plates, cutlery and napkins, and our team returns to collect the equipment.
Can I change or cancel my order?
Yes, with more than 24 hours' notice before your event, subject to availability. Within 24 hours the food and manpower are already committed, so changes and cancellations are normally not accepted and a fee of 50% to 100% of the order may apply.
