Certified and Muslim-owned are not the same claim
This is the distinction that causes the most confusion, and it is worth settling before you compare anyone on price. A Muslim-owned stall prepares halal food to halal practice. A halal-certified kitchen holds MUIS certification, which is an audited standard with paperwork behind it.
Both are legitimate. Which one you need depends on the event: a family gathering usually does not require certification, while a corporate or institutional event often does, and some venues require it outright. Ask which you are being offered, because plenty of listings say "halal" without saying which.
Livingmenu is a multi-vendor catering solution provider rather than a single kitchen: our halal menus come from Muslim-owned stalls, and halal-certified menus are available through our partnering vendors on request. If certification is required for your event, say so at the point of enquiry — it is a smaller pool of vendors and that matters most at short notice.
Ask which halal
Muslim-owned or MUIS-certified. They are different claims.
Check the minimum
Halal minimums are often higher elsewhere. Ours is 10 pax, the same as any menu.
Check for a premium
Many places price halal above the standard menu. We do not.
Check the lead time
Three to five days is common. Ours is one day, subject to availability.
Five questions worth asking anyone
Is this Muslim-owned or MUIS-certified, and can you show the certificate? What is the minimum headcount for the halal menu specifically, rather than the menu in general? Is the halal menu priced above the standard one? How much notice do you need? And what arrives with the food — are serving gear and disposables included, or extra?
That last one catches people out more than it should. A quoted per-pax rate that excludes plates, cutlery and serving gear is not comparable to one that includes them.

How ordering works
Book early for popular dates
Our cutoff is one day before your event. In practice, order earlier: festive periods, year-end parties and weekend slots fill up well ahead, and booking early secures both your slot and the dishes you want.
Mini buffet and bento delivery $30
Drop and go: food arrives in insulated warmer bags that are yours to keep, with serving gear, cutlery, plates, bowls, a disposable table cloth and a trash bag. Free on promotional menus above $225.
Buffet delivery and setup $90
One fee covers delivery, a full setup with a skirted table and cloth, warmers, serving gear, disposable plates, cutlery and napkins, and our team returning to collect the equipment after your event.
Changes up to 24 hours before
Adjust your headcount, menu or timing more than 24 hours before your event, subject to availability. Within 24 hours the food and manpower are already committed, so changes and cancellations are normally not accepted and a fee of 50% to 100% of the order may apply.
Additional charges may apply for outlying areas (Tengah, Lim Chu Kang, Tuas, Sentosa, Changi Airport and Alps Avenue), deliveries before 10am or after 7.30pm, and venues without lift access. Every charge is confirmed in your quotation before you pay. See full terms.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between halal-certified and Muslim-owned?
A Muslim-owned stall prepares halal food to halal practice. A halal-certified kitchen holds MUIS certification, an audited standard with documentation. Both are legitimate; which you need depends on whether your event or venue requires certification specifically.
Is Livingmenu a halal caterer?
Livingmenu is a multi-vendor catering solution provider rather than a single kitchen — we work across many partnering vendors, including Muslim-owned stalls and halal-certified vendors. That means a wider choice of halal menus than one kitchen can offer, and a date full for one vendor is often open for another.
Do halal catering companies charge more?
Many do, because halal is handled as a special request on top of a standard operation. Ours are priced identically to the equivalent non-halal menus, with the same 10 pax minimum.
Is the food halal certified?
Our halal menus come from Muslim-owned stalls. Halal-certified menus — carrying MUIS certification — are available through our partnering vendors on request. Those are two different things, and if your event requires certification specifically rather than halal preparation, say so when you enquire so we only look at vendors who carry it.
How do I make sure nothing non-halal is included?
Select halal in the menu planner. From that point only halal menus are shown to you, including every free swap option, so there is nothing to check afterwards.
Can I order one halal spread for a mixed group?
Yes, and it is usually the better answer. One order, one delivery, everyone eating from the same table, and typically cheaper than a main order plus a separate halal one.
How far in advance should I order catering?
The latest we can take an order is one day before your event. We recommend booking earlier than that: popular dates such as Chinese New Year, Hari Raya, Christmas and the year-end party season are taken weeks ahead, and ordering early secures your slot and the dishes you want. For large events, the earlier the better.
Is there a delivery fee?
Delivery is free on mini buffet and bento orders of $225 or more before GST. Below that it is $30, and a 10 pax order always carries the fee whatever the order comes to. On the entry-level mini buffet menus $225 is reached at 15 pax. A buffet with setup instead carries a $90 setup fee, charged once per order, which covers delivery, laying out the buffet line and collecting the equipment afterwards. Remote postal codes, deliveries at 9.59am or earlier or 7.31pm or later, and venues without lift access can add a surcharge on top; every one is published and appears in your quotation before you confirm.
What is included with the food?
Mini buffet orders are drop and go: the food arrives in insulated warmer bags that are yours to keep, with serving gear, cutlery, plates, bowls, a disposable table cloth and a trash bag, so you can bag everything up and bin it after your event. Bento meals come individually boxed with cutlery. Buffet with setup includes a skirted table and cloth, warmers, serving gear, disposable plates, cutlery and napkins, and our team returns to collect the equipment.
Can I change or cancel my order?
Yes, with more than 24 hours' notice before your event, subject to availability. Within 24 hours the food and manpower are already committed, so changes and cancellations are normally not accepted and a fee of 50% to 100% of the order may apply.
