Night shift meals, waiting when the break starts

A 45-minute break in the middle of the night, on a site with nothing open nearby and no transport for most of the crew. Leaving to find food is not an option, so we deliver the meal before the break begins.

Our commitment

Meals arrive at least 15 minutes before your break starts, in a delivery window written into your service agreement.

Not an estimate, and not best effort. The window is set against your break times before you sign, and it is the same promise at 2am as at noon.

The problem

Why feeding a night crew is harder than feeding a day one

The same three things come up on every site we visit.

  • A 45-minute break at 2am

Most of the crew have no transport and the site is nowhere near a food centre. Leaving to find food is not an option, so the meal has to be waiting when the line stops.

  • Nothing open nearby

Tuas, Jurong, Loyang, Senoko, Changi and the shipyards are badly served after midnight. Supper options thin out at the same hour, delivery apps along with them, and surge pricing lands on the staff.

  • Too few staff for a canteen

An onsite canteen needs the headcount to pay for itself. A night crew of 20 to 200 is well below that, so the usual answer is a vending machine and a kettle.

Why the timing holds

How we can put the window in writing

A promise about 2am is only worth making if the operation behind it is built for 2am.

  • Many vendors, not one kitchen

We match your shift to whichever of our vendors can hold that hour, so the window never rests on a single kitchen being free at 1am.

  • A window, not an estimate

The delivery window is agreed per site against your actual break times and written down. It is a commitment in the service agreement, not an app estimate that moves with traffic.

  • Dropped where the break happens

To the guardhouse, pantry or crib room, labelled per person, so nobody walks to a lobby or waits for a rider at the gate.

  • A record across 972,000 meals

99% on-time delivery across every meal we have run since 2018 — the same operation, running a different hour of the day.

How it works

From your roster to the crib room

  1. 01

    Tell us your break times

The shifts you run, when each break starts, how many people are on, and where the meals should land.

  2. 02

    We agree the window

A delivery window at least 15 minutes ahead of each break, set against your roster and written into the agreement.

  3. 03

    Staff choose their meals

A rotating menu from several food stalls, with halal and vegetarian every day. Ordering closes ahead of the shift, on a cutoff agreed with your site.

  4. 04

    Meals arrive named and ready

Labelled per person at the drop point, before the break starts. Nobody queues and nobody leaves the site.

Who it is for

Sites that run through the night

Usually a crew of 20 to 200 on a 24-hour operation — too few for an onsite canteen to make sense, too many to leave to a vending machine.

  • Manufacturing and production lines
  • Logistics, warehousing and cold chain
  • Shipyards and marine
  • Security and facilities teams
  • Healthcare and care homes
  • Data centres
  • Airport ground handling
  • Construction and infrastructure

Have kitchen space and several hundred staff across the day? An on-site staff canteen may suit your site better — tell us about your site and we will say which fits.

Individually packed compartment meals with rice and local dishes, labelled per person for a night shift crew in Singapore
What it costs

Hawker prices on the food, no midnight mark-up

  • $4 to $7 a meal

The same range as a coffeeshop or hawker centre, at 3am as at noon. Staff pay for their own meals unless the company chooses to subsidise.

  • A service fee on top

Holding a guaranteed window in the small hours takes dedicated vendors and a dedicated run, so night shift service carries a service fee. It is quoted against your shift pattern, headcount and location.

  • Optional employer co-pay

Subsidise any share of each meal, tracked per person and billed monthly. A shift allowance that arrives as a hot meal rather than a payslip line.

FAQ

Night shift catering questions, answered

Do you deliver food for night shift workers in Singapore?

Yes. Night shift catering is part of Livingmenu Cloud Canteen, our daily workplace meal service. Meals arrive at least 15 minutes before your break starts, in a delivery window written into your service agreement. We cover graveyard, overnight and rotating shifts, including weekends and public holidays.

How do you guarantee meals arrive before a 45-minute break?

Three things. We are a platform rather than a single kitchen, so your shift is matched to whichever of our vendors can hold that hour — the window never depends on one kitchen being free in the middle of the night. The delivery window is agreed against your actual break times and written into the service agreement rather than estimated. And meals are dropped at the guardhouse, pantry or crib room where the break happens, labelled per person, so no time is lost collecting them.

What is the minimum number of night shift workers?

There is no headcount minimum. Most night crews we feed are between 20 and 200 people, which is well below what an onsite canteen needs to be viable — that gap is the reason this service exists.

How much do night shift meals cost?

The meals themselves are priced like a coffeeshop or hawker centre, with no midnight mark-up on the food. Night shift service runs on a service fee on top, because holding a guaranteed window in the small hours takes dedicated vendors and a dedicated run. The fee depends on your shift pattern, headcount and location, so it is quoted per site rather than published.

Can you deliver at 2am, 3am or 4am?

Yes. We run to your break times rather than to a fixed menu of slots, including the small hours, weekends and public holidays. Tell us when the line stops and that is what the window is set against. For 24-hour operations we can hold a window on every shift, so the morning, afternoon and midnight crews are all fed on their own break.

Do you cover sites in Tuas, Jurong, Loyang and Senoko?

Those are exactly the areas this service was built for — industrial sites that are nowhere near a food centre, and worse after midnight. Coverage still depends on your specific location, so leave your details and our team will confirm for your site.

Are halal and vegetarian meals available on the night shift?

Yes, every day. Halal meals come from our partnering Muslim-owned stalls, and halal certification is available through those vendors on request. Vegetarian is on the menu daily at the same prices.

Can the company subsidise night shift meals?

Yes. The employer can co-pay any share of each meal, tracked per person and billed monthly. A lot of companies use the subsidy on night shifts specifically, as a shift allowance that arrives as food rather than as a line on a payslip.

What is the difference between this and a staff canteen?

A staff canteen is built and run on your premises and needs kitchen space plus the headcount to fill it — typically several hundred staff. This is delivered, needs no kitchen, and has no headcount minimum. If your site has the space and the numbers, an on-site canteen may suit you better and we can set one up.

What happens if a shift is cancelled or the headcount changes?

Orders can be cancelled free up to the cutoff agreed for your site. Rosters move, and the cutoff is set so that a changed shift does not become food nobody eats.
